The move to Roma opens a new chapter for Konstantinos Koulierakis. His career has been built deliberately, step by step, through a clear plan, carefully judged timing and, above all, consistency.

We have been actively involved in this journey from the beginning. With the move to Roma complete, I want to explain the thinking behind the decisions. I believe this experience is useful for parents of young footballers and for professionals interested in how a career is planned.

Football carries uncertainty. A carefully considered plan improves the chances of a player fulfilling his potential and helps us adapt when circumstances change.

PAOK and knowing when to take the next step

The journey began at PAOK. The club developed Konstantinos, trusted him at a very young age and gave him the conditions to compete at a high level in Greece and in Europe.

After two full and successful seasons with the first team, culminating in a league title and selection for the league Team of the Season, the time had come for the next step.

Timing can define the career of a young footballer. Move too early and he may not be ready; wait too long and he may lose the momentum and the window of opportunity created by his own performances. For Konstantinos, stepping into a stronger league was no longer just an ambition. It had become the necessary next stage in his development.

Why Wolfsburg was the right choice

When assessing the next club for a player aged twenty, we give particular weight to the conditions for his development. Will he play? Will he have time to adapt? Will the environment make him better? And, if he succeeds, will the path to the next level remain open?

Wolfsburg met those conditions. It is an established German club with a strong financial base, one that demonstrated genuine belief in Konstantinos and could offer the playing time and patience required to adapt to a faster, more athletic and more demanding league.

We also looked closely at how the club operates. Wolfsburg has a strong record of developing central defenders and preparing them for the highest level. The city mattered too. It was compact, organised and relatively free from the noise that surrounds the biggest clubs in Europe. It gave a young player the right daily environment to focus, look after his body, put in extra work and build the habits that sustain a career.

Wolfsburg was an ambitious choice, grounded in structure, sound football reasoning and a clear development goal.

What he gained from two years in Germany

Over two seasons at Wolfsburg, Konstantinos made 61 appearances across the Bundesliga and the relegation playoffs. Week after week he faced the best players in the world and learned to perform in a league where situations change at speed, the intensity never drops and every mistake can be punished.

During that period he also established himself as a starter for Greece. This was a huge honour matched by an equally significant responsibility. He improved his positioning, his defending inside the box, his reactions in fast transitions and his ability to defend large spaces. He became consistently effective in a back three and improved his decision making under pressure.

His response to pressure was an important part of that growth. During the most difficult months at Wolfsburg, with the team under intense pressure, Konstantinos took responsibility. He stood out, scored crucial goals and gave everything. His selection for the official Bundesliga Under 21 Team of the Season in 2025/26 was recognition of that individual development.

Relegation was a painful conclusion for the team. During that difficult period, Konstantinos showed character, took responsibility and maintained his level. The experience added maturity to his development.

Trust, clear communication and a shared understanding of the plan sit behind every decision.

Difficult periods test the character of a player and can accelerate his development.

Why Roma is the right step now

Konstantinos arrives in Rome with talent and two years of substantial Bundesliga experience. He understands the intensity of football at the highest level and is prepared for the demands of the next challenge.

Roma offers a demanding environment, an outstanding coach with exacting standards, and a football philosophy that suits both his qualities and the experience he has acquired. A back three is central to the way Gian Piero Gasperini plays. Sporting fit carries significant weight in this decision, alongside the stature and ambition of the club.

He will represent one of the most historic clubs in Italy, play in the Champions League and live in a city with global reach, in front of supporters whose passion is matched by their expectations. It is an environment in which he can develop further, compete for honours and strengthen both his standing in the game and his international profile.

Roma also offers significant opportunities to develop his international profile and commercial partnerships. Performance on the pitch is the foundation for that progress.

What a representative is really there to do

Every career decision requires an individual strategy. The sole focus must be the development of the player over the long term. Each player has individual needs. Age and position provide part of the picture. Character, readiness and the right environment for development require personal assessment.

Career development depends on injuries, coaching changes, systems of play, internal dynamics, team results, personal circumstances and, of course, timing. Our role is to reduce avoidable risk and improve the quality of each decision.

That demands a plan and the flexibility to adapt it. It means having alternatives, a genuine international network, deep knowledge of the market and being ready long before the transfer window opens. It also requires modern technology and analytical infrastructure. This means being able to read the data, understand club needs and playing models, and identify the environment in which each individual player can genuinely thrive.

The signature is the visible moment. Strategy, preparation and responsibility come before it.

At AS1, we combine technology and data with the experience of our people and trusted relationships with clubs. That collaboration gives practical substance to our strategy.

The preparation for a major transfer takes place over years. It begins in the early stages of a career and develops every day. Relationships with clubs, knowledge of the market and credibility are built through a consistent presence and reliable work.

The player drives the process

However demanding the work of a representative may be, the player is still the one driving the process. A representative can map the route, anticipate risks, create options and open the right doors; the footballer is the one who must walk through them.

A career is ultimately shaped by performance, the desire to improve, consistency, care for the body, a willingness to do extra work and the ability to work well with the people around him. A calm, supportive family environment matters just as much, providing balance and stability.

Konstantinos earned every step through his performances, mentality, persistence and relentless appetite for improvement. Our responsibility has always been to be ready when his work creates the next opportunity.

A new and even more demanding chapter now begins in Rome. We approach it with ambition, professional discipline and confidence in the work already done. Our responsibility continues every day, alongside Konstantinos.

A major transfer is an important moment. A great career is built over time.

Our objective remains the same. To support Konstantinos in building a career at the highest level.
